2026 QB/ATH Desmond Jordan: Alleghany HS (VA)

Desmond Jordan, a versatile quarterback and athlete, is making waves at Alleghany High School in Covington, VA. Standing at 5'11" and weighing 170 lbs, this junior has not only demonstrated his prowess on the football field but also excels in basketball and track. With a commendable 3.6 GPA, Jordan embodies the balance between academics and athletics.

Reflecting on his early beginnings, Jordan shared, "It all started when I was young, watching my dad play football in college. Ever since then, I always wanted to play football and be in that same position to play in college." His journey into football began at just six years old in Greensboro, North Carolina, before moving to Virginia after seventh grade to continue his high school career at the same school his parents attended.

Training is a crucial part of Jordan's regimen. "I have a trainer, Anthony Redd, that I train with at Zonedinperformance. I have been working with him since I’ve been in the eighth grade," he said. This dedication extends to regular weekend sessions in Roanoke, where he grinds alongside other top athletes. Additionally, his father plays a significant role in his training, assisting with mechanics, throwing reps, footwork drills, and weightlifting.

Jordan's multi-sport talent is evident as he also plays guard in basketball and runs track. This diverse athletic background contributes to his overall agility and coordination on the football field.

The recruiting process for Jordan has been promising. "My freshman year, I started at QB and played DB, and received a spring practice visit to UConn," he noted. While he has yet to receive official offers, several schools have shown interest. Wake Forest stands out to him due to early interactions with their coaching staff and its proximity to his roots in North Carolina. "Wake Forest was the first to capture my attention. They were the first school that I had an actual conversation with a coach," he recalled.

Preparation for the upcoming season is intense and ongoing for Jordan. "I’ve been preparing since the end of my last game last season. The same weekend our season was over, I was training to get better to be the best me," he emphasized. His off-season routine includes attending various camps, weightlifting classes, and extra sessions on the field with his teammates to build chemistry and improve his skills. Notably, he does 100 pushups every night before bed to maintain his fitness.

Outside of football, Jordan enjoys spending time outdoors, particularly fishing, and values his time with friends and family. Music is another passion, with Destroy Lonely being his favorite artist. His commitment to his community is evident as he actively seeks to inspire younger kids. "I try to help inspire kids that look up to me, by going to their school or to youth camps talking to them about football," he said.

Desmond Jordan’s dedication, talent, and community spirit make him a standout athlete to watch in the coming years. With his continued hard work, the future looks bright for this Alleghany High School star.
