In the heart of Georgia, football fever runs deep, and one young player is making waves at Parkview High School. Meet Cortez Smith, a towering 6'4", 295-pound center, whose skills on the field are turning heads. We had the opportunity to chat with Cortez about his journey in the world of football, his mentors, recruitment, and the balance he strikes between athletics and personal life.

Early Beginnings and Family Influence

"I started playing football at 6 years old," Cortez reminisces. It's not uncommon for young athletes to find their passion for the game at an early age, and for Cortez, it was a family affair. His father played a pivotal role in sparking his interest in football, setting the foundation for his budding career.

The Coaches Who Molded Him

Cortez credits not only his father but also several coaches and trainers for shaping him into the player he is today. "My Dad, Tucker Football League, Parkview, Coach Kelvin McAlmont," he mentions, highlighting the importance of mentorship and dedicated guidance in his development as a football player.

Recruitment on the Rise

For Cortez, the recruiting process began in earnest during his ninth-grade year, and it has been heating up ever since. "I’ve been looking really hard as of late," he notes. The world of college recruitment can be intense, with offers and interest from various schools, but Cortez is taking it all in stride as he explores his options.

A Multifaceted Athlete

Beyond the gridiron, Cortez's interests and hobbies reflect his well-rounded nature. "I’m also on the track team, and a gamer," he shares. Balancing academics, athletics, and personal interests might seem like a challenge to some, but for Cortez, it's second nature.

Inspiration from All Corners

Cortez's journey is guided by a strong support system. "My family and friends, and Coaches help inspire me on and off the field," he emphasizes. These role models and inspirations both within and outside of football have played a pivotal role in shaping him not just as an athlete but as a person with a bright future ahead.

As Cortez Smith continues to make strides on the field and explore his collegiate options, it's clear that his dedication, family support, and multifaceted interests will continue to be the driving forces behind his success.
